The House of Mirth

Just finished reading The House of Mirth by Edith Wharton for school. If you haven't read it, don't bother reading this post.

Impressions:
  • I bet Selden was hot. (Lawrence Selden. Oh baby.)
  • In my head, Lily Bart looked an awful lot like Camilla Belle, and then halfway through she morphed into this delicate, waif-y, Keira Knightley-esque figure.
  • It felt super chick lit-y. But I liked the writing.
  • It was this close to cheese. --->||<---
  • I wish there were more vivid descriptions of the dresses.
  • It was kind of amusing how the antisemitism was both blatant and subtle.
  • With a name like Gerty, that's just asking for homeliness.
  • Looooove will save the day.
