Then why can't I paint you?

The dress from Goodwill, shortened yesterday.

Above, dress: Goodwill, shortened. Beret: mother's. Shoes: Aerosoles, mother's (they are a whole size too small. Ow).

Above, the back and shiny glory.

Above, I look kind of pregnant from the side. Oh well. It's not that bad in this picture because my head is tilted downward, but if I stand up straight, it looks pretty terrible.

My mother's shoes (that I am sporting above) are a whole size too small. I would wear my own flats to emphasize the pretty that is this dress, but I own only black ones, so instead I would opt for oxfords or for visually stumping my legs:

Above, shoes: blowfish from delia's.

Take that, Doc Martens.

Above, my haute couture editorial pose.

Things I Really Love

Because TiLT is one year old!
  • Sunshine. I miss her and leaping into other people's photos with her.
  • Museums, which reminds me that the Korean art section at the Met was closed off when I went. I've totally never seen a Korean art exhibit before. I must see one.
  • OMG! A comment from Winona of DaddyLikey! Well that's probably because I linked to her Don't Show-Cha Your Chocha in that post. COOL!
  • the poet Wendy Cope ("The Orange," "Bloody Men," and a whole bunch imitating other poets) because she is funny and painful and frank
  • high heels and how I feel when walking in them (for the first fifteen minutes before any discomfort starts to kick in)
  • Rice, because I cannot live without. I really can't. If I skip eating rice for more than two days I start to feel sick.
  • this thread on collegeconfidential about quirky college admissions essays (Excerpts: "I stole Chicago's essay prompt about who you would invite to a tea party. I invited Alice and the Mad Hatter; Sir Robin's Minstrels (from Monty Python) and Teddy Roosevelt; Giuseppe Verdi, Igor Stravinsky, and Winnie the Pooh; and Charles Darwin and Stephen Hawking. At the end of my essay, Grendel came and ate everyone." /// "my personal statement was about the Weather Channel and a placemat." /// "I wrote about my childhood attempts to become a Disney princess." /// "I discussed how I got great enjoyment out of handling the intricacies of the small business that I was running at the time. I alluded to how it was something programmed into me... and I attached a photo that my parents took of me at age 3 reading the business section on the toilet.")
  • how cold San Francisco summers are because I cannot be me without layering
  • when you dream about shopping for steak at the supermarket with someone you haven't talked to in over a year, and then you email them about it, and then they email back telling you how they dreamed about you last night too and how you haven't talked for over a year, and when that someone is an old friend and an old flame
  • that I just finished Jason's section in The Sound and the Fury. Jason makes me so mad. That part with Luster and the tickets, ooh, I could just kick him in the nuts. I have the feeling he's supposed to piss me off, though, and then I wonder if I'm second-guessing myself by trying to find pity or empathy for him.
  • hot pink everything
  • this timeline of internet memes. It is fascinating how many of these I've encountered (and missed) and how they started. [via thrillist]
  • THIS 365-DAY BUBBLE WRAP CALENDAR!!! It is GENIUS! [via thrillist]
  • the way the schwa sound looks (ə)
  • This out of focus cupcake picture, because the cupcake was delicious:
  • that my hair has grown to such an awkward (read: boring) length that I am looking at head accessories in a whole new light
  • sewing and the internet
  • my mom, my brother and his size-XS fashion aesthetic, and the people I am so lucky to know and be supported by
[EDIT: Addendum - my grandmother, folding the laundry, picking up my (one and only) thong and asking what it was supposed to be and, after I answered her, what it was supposed to cover.]

Speaking of The Dark Knight,

here are some Distant Relatives' Grandkids! They are so cool.

Just look at how many levels of superhero they have gone on here. (The blue sheet is Spider-Man.)

You can buy a Batman mask at Toys R Us. Here are some posters I saw some guy hawking on the sidewalk while I was walking from Little Italy to Chinatown.

Cool. So is the billboard in Times Square. Along with all the musicals I have seen with hearts.

Speaking of Toys R Us and Times Square, the Toys R Us at Times Square is HUGE! It even has a freaking ferris wheel inside!

You may or may not be able to tell that I may or may not be trying to get rid of my photos.

POW!

Forever21, I am speechless. I don't know if it's in a good way or a bad way.

Above, H81 POW Comic Tee, $18.90 at Forever21

Above, Pow! Fitted T-shirt, $30 at the Met Museum Store

I feel like the Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy exhibit at the Met has been desecrated by this knock-off. But would I wear it? Maybe.

After seeing the exhibit, I was going to get that Pow! shirt but decided to get Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy the book instead. Speaking of the Met Museum Store...

...I would love this watch:

Above, French Evening Watch, $145 at the Met Museum Store

Oh yes, I also bought this scarf:

Above, Pow! Bam! Neckerchief, $35 at the Met Museum Store

Actually, what I squealed when seeing was this:

Which I can't find on the museum store website for some reason, so here it is from Amazon. Above, The Dark Knight: Featuring Production Art and Full Shooting Script, $35 $23.10 from Amazon. The book on a whole was not that exciting (most of it is the script, which I'm actually not that interested in) but OMG! The glory that is Heath Ledger as the Joker under the book jacket is amazing. I would totally leave it on my coffee table (if I had one) to creep people out! And the production art inside was pretty cool. Too bad there wasn't enough art and too much script.

Oh yeah. Here is my museum store picture of the t-shirt that I was secretly planning on printing myself:

Okay that is all. I have a headache.

[Edit: So apparently delia's has its own Pow! Tee also. This superhero thing is quite exciting. All! The! Punctuation!]

[Edit: I think this is the 250th post.]

Fazed-Girl Is A Creeper!

So here are my blurry, surreptitious photos of strangers in New York City. Sorry, strangers!

Above, walking around near Central Park. I think her jacket is like denim chambray or something.

Above, at the Met. I do love me some prints!

Above, more prints, this one from some street fair type thing near Times Square.

Above, same place.

Above, on the way to the Met.

Above, double plaid! At Rockefeller Plaza or something.

Above, at the Met. These are all horrible pictures, I know, but man, is it hard to take creeper photos. I like the jeans on the guy on the left. And the right, too, but that cuff on the left is rather endearing. I think these guys started looking at me funny because I was walking behind them for a while. I was actually just looking at the same pieces. (I actually was.)

Above, Chinatown. The guy on the right had really cool shoes. Too bad in this picture it looks like he's wearing slippers.

Above, I have to be honest and say I like shorter shorts on guys. Fazed-Girl likes legs. But I mean shorter, as in shorter than at-the-knee, not short-short. Anyway, here's a guy in the kind of shorts you walk around the house in. But I like how long (or short) they are. To emphasize how creeper it was of me to take this photo, here is the un-edited version:

That's my skirt in the foreground.

Above, COLOR!

Above, COLOR! In this horrible picture.

Above, COLOR! Those two on the left looked really cool. Um. Maybe only because they were standing together. And she has purple pants. Oh, and the girl on the right. Her hair. I don't like it, but I didn't see blunt bangs on very many other people in New York.

Above, DUDE! Yellow! And stripes! And a fanny pack! Worn on the fanny! (I think it's a fanny pack.) And denim cutoffs! Oh! Wonderful.

Above, party in the back.

Above, since you probably can't read my tiny caption, it says something like "This is at Rockefeller Plaza, wherever that is, and I promise there are at least two cute guys in this picture. Or at least, they were cute when it was focused."

[Edit: I think this is Post #250. Woah. I post too much.]

Here are some hats.

Here is my tourist shopping bag and my feet:

Here are some hats:

Above, aviator hat (for my brother): $35. I wonder how overpriced this was.

Above, hot pink crocheted beanie thing, $15. I think this was overpriced. ... :(

Above, blue beret, $12. I would say this one was reasonably priced.

That is all.
